Mission Statement

The Shawnee Freshwater Prawn Growers Association was formed during the 2001/2002 season. It's mission is to develope and promote high quality freshwater prawn in Southern Illinois. Alternative Agriculture is an important factor to be considered when promoting Southern Illinois agriculture and regional products to the Illinois marketplace. Utilizing colleges, universities, cooperatives, and economic developement centers along with our area work ethic, we will develope a thriving aquaculture business, teach others, and help maintain family farm operations. This association also can be capable of creating employment opportunities in Southern Illinois.
